The first figural glass candy container was the Liberty Bell commemorating the country's centennial celebration in 1876. Until the 1960s, millions were produced in every shape imaginable and by several different glass companies, many of which were centered around Jeannette, Pennsylvania. Today collectors of toys, glass, and candy containers take special interest in this booming collectible field. Collector's Guide to Candy Containers is the most comprehensive book ever produced on this subject. It displays over 400 brilliant color photos of virtually every candy container known to exist, many of which have never been published before. Each item pictured is accompanied by a detailed description of the container including its dimension, value, maker, date, variations, colors, and whether or not it is being reproduced. There is even a cross-reference to numbers used by other authors when applicable. The candy containers are organized into broad categories such as aviation, buildings, and lighting. The values, based on condition, were determined from an assortment of up-to-date resources. All-metal containers and plastic containers are also included.
