Bubbles lost her parents and the rest of her herd to ivory poachers. In 1984, she was adopted by a wildlife preserve in South Carolina. Over time, this baby elephant learned to trust her human caregivers and made friends with other rescued animals. Bubbles matured, showed extraordinary intelligence, and has become a symbol of wildlife preservation.
