Ava and her sister enter a poetry contest to win a pet and are sure the prize will be a dog. They decide the dog will be named Lucille, but soon discover their dreams of a puppy prize are not to come true. Ava must work through her disappointment and find ways to embrace a different kind of pet. This book came from a “friends of the library” sale at our local library, so there are a few stamps on the inside cover and title page from when it was a library book in circulation.
