Synopsis | Mario Terrizi, the gardener at the Dilworth Arts and Crafts Center, was a prime suspect in the murder of Davin Lowry. Grace Dilworth was planning to tear out Mario’s rose garden to make room for the modernistic sculpture she and Davin had just acquired. After Mario was jailed for attacking a policeman with a rosebush, he swore his innocence: I went over to the steps and I was thinking I’m having the d.t.s. Me, a respectable, clean-drinking man—I’m seeing—well, like a hatrack made of swords and a man hanging on it. . . . I scrammed. . . . I went off and got drunk again so’s I could sleep off the d.t.s. . . .” Of course, Mario wasn’t the only suspect. There were several other people in Wingate who might have wanted to see Davin Lowry take. —From back of the dust jacket b-443
