I am partial to narrative nonfiction like biographies, memoirs, and investigative journalism. I especially appreciate placed-based cultural inquiries; two of my favorite authors in this area are Barbara Demick and Peter Hessler. I have a soft spot for classics written by American authors (Henry James, Fitzgerald, Wharton) For my Pango bookstore, I look for: • Nostalgic finds - out of print classics, books with special cover art (Louis Sachar's Holes with the original dust jacket design was one lucky find). • Off-the-beaten-track fiction. These are books you won't find on reader lists or discussed on booktok and are obscurely or independently published. I get a kick out of indie literature and try to keep my store stocked with these titles. • New releases - I keep a quick eye out for new releases so you can get them fairly early at good prices.
