An incredibly age-appropriate educational book for young children on the anatomical differences between the bodies of biological boys and girls— from childhood and into adulthood. I will note that I was given this book around age 10– in case you are trying to determine what age group this book would be appropriate for. I definitely think i was mature enough to learn about what is discussed in this book, as it’s purely educational, and teaches us important aspects about our own bodies. It’s important to also note that this book does NOT have any discussion around gender identity, sexual orientation, and educates SOLELY on the binary differences between anatomical males and females. This book was published in 1997– meaning if you are looking for a book that includes non-binary/LGBTQIA+ inclusive education, this book simply doesn’t mention anything, whatsoever. In the 90’s, conversations around gender identity were still heavily stigmatized, and not talked about as openly— especially with children. It doesn’t say anything about it— good or bad— one way or the other. Again, if you are a parent looking for a more inclusive, modern & updated book, this wouldn’t be the book for you.
