Excellent historical reference with many photos and illustrations, both color and B&W. The book highlights the beginnings of western civilization in Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece and Rome. Published in 1953, it is a very readable account of history. Tight copy even though the boards are a bit worn. Semi-glossy pages, a little tanned with age. Previous owner seal on title page. Strangely, the inside front board (and one additional page) contain the previous owner’s return address label.
