I watched the movie a couple years ago and finally decided to pick up the book; I did not expect to like it as much as I did. The story almost reads as a stream of consciousness (or a VERY long journal entry). Our unreliable narrator, Merricat, tells the story with whimsy…but also a lot of darkness....
