First third a little slow. Enjoyed the characters and the history behind the packhorse Librarians. Fantastic ending!

I loved this one! The packhorse librarians are interesting themselves, but the story woven into the Eastern Kentukcy backdrop is a nice glimpse into the past.

Loved this book! Historical fiction about backpack librarians in Ky during 1935 until 1945. Inspired by Eleanor Roosevelt’s WPA program to educate and enrich people’s lives. Feel good ending with difficult situations in a coal mining town, racial unrests, and righteous men in control.
