Peter Matthiessen (May 22, 1927 - April 5, 2014) was an American novelist, naturalist, wilderness writer, and CIA agent. He was a two-time National Book Award winner and a co-founder of the Paris Review. His works include The Snow Leopard, At Play in the Fields of the Lord, and The Tree Where Man Was Born.
