    Seller Description

This is a very personal account of 9/11 and its aftermath, written and illustrated by Art Spiegelman, the author of Maus. The author and his family lived near the towers and witnessed their fall, and he was profoundly affected by the images and the emotions of the day. Spiegelman processes his memories and impressions through his chosen medium of illustration, specifically comics. His work is informed in part by early newspaper comics, and reprints of some of these are included in the second part of the book as well as an essay describing their origins in the late 1800's and early 1900's. This is an incredible work, displaying a jumble of styles, information, and viewpoint, but with an ongoing narrative thread of his experiences on that day, and afterward. It is not a classic hardcover, but has a thick cover and pages like a sturdy board book, but very large. It is not a classic non-fiction book either, as it depicts the event and aftermath as seen through the author's eyes and perspective. It is truly a remarkable book.#9-11-2001#newyorkcity#twintowers#worldtradecenter#terroristattack#9-11-2001-personalaccount#comics#comix
