At the time this book was published, copyright laws protected a work for 42 years: an initial 28, plus another 14 if the copyright holder renewed it. That's probably why the publisher was able to take so many works and make them available, in hardcover.

Since 1998, thanks to Sonny Bono, copyright lasts the shorter of 120 years or the life of the author plus 70 years. Which means, for you Hocus Pocus 2 fans, that you cannot use those loveable witches in your own commercial work until probably 2142.
