This was a fun book to read simply because of the ridiculousness of it.  The last dragon alive living in a bayou, done with life being hunted drinking himself away, finds himself connected to a young boy who found himself on the high and mighty constables bad (horrible) side. The duo strike a deal that sorta helps both, since Vern despises connecting with humans.
