Seller Description
Hello! Up for sale is a Hardcover of the collection ANOTHER LOOK AT ATLANTIS AND FIFTEEN OTHER ESSAYS by noted science author Willy Ley. Willy Ley was a prolific writer and lecturer on scientific subjects and was one of the earliest proponents of a manned flight to the Moon. His literary works on astronautics and astro-history that he would write in America are considered classics in their field. Ley also delved into the areas of pseudoscience including cryptozoology and other areas. This hardcover collects several essays where he explores some of those broader interests that went outside the area of traditional science. Published by Bell/Doubleday appears to be a First Edition, First Printing Hardcover. The copyright page states a date of 1969, an ISBN and there is a letter-line of “a b c d e f g h” which usually indicates a First Printing. However there is no price on the jacket which suggests a possible Doubleday Book Club Edition (BCE). However, there are no other usual points of a BCE from that time period: there is no apparent gutter code and there is no die impression to the rear board. As a result, while I cannot state this with 100% certainty, my research strongly suggests that this is a First Edition, First Printing Hardcover. If you have any other information or have any specific questions that would help you make a determination, PLEASE let me know! The Book is in Good condition with only light wear to the blue boards. There are no markings and the pages have some slight tanning. The spine is tight and there is no lean. The dustjacket is in Good condition with light wear to the edges, including some very small tears/chips and some mild dings and rubbing to the surface. Please let me know if you have any questions!
