The inscription seems to read, “Avec toute mon amite, Antoine” which translates roughly to “With all my friendship, Antoine” This is a very rare piece at an incredible price don’t miss out! Good condition copy. Jacket is in rough shape with with chips to crown and heel of spine as well as a split across the middle. Chip to lower edge of back cover as well. Volume itself is in very good condition. Shows little fading or foxing and is unmarked other than an old penciled price on first leaf. Description: Antoni Cierplikowski (1884 – 1976) was a Polish hairdresser who became the world’s first celebrity hairdresser when he opened the salon Antoine de Paris in Paris and became known as Monsieur Antoine. Among his clients were world-famous female personalities like Coco Chanel, Queen Marie of Romania, Sarah Bernhardt, Greta Garbo, U.S. First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, and Brigitte Bardot.
