Elliot Paul was a noted American Paris expatriate of the 1920s, co-editor of Transition magazine and knew all the notables of the period. This book is basically the story of the lives of the people of the street on which he lived, the Rue de la Huchette. Paul lived there for the better part of 18 years, between the two World Wars until the Nazi occupation of France prevented his return.
