I understand people who think the death penalty is a good thing. For a long time, I did, too, back when I was a hardcover conservative. But it's not a good thing. The system makes mistakes. We can reverse a conviction but not an electrocution. If you're religious, then the death penalty substitutes God's views with your own: He didn't kill that prisoner. You did. And it lowers us as a society, to have people knowingly kill someone. It's also, in nearly all its forms, excessively cruel. You don't get justice by acting like a murderer yourself. Biden promised to try to abolish the death penalty. He's put a hold on executions and withdrawn a death penalty notice in 25 cases. The only president to authorize executions this century, Trump, has hired the guy behind ending DACA and "family separation" to streamline and expand the death penalty, using the Supreme Court packed with terrible people to do so. Vote for Biden, or you will have blood on your hands.
