Random Number Lit - Small Works List Paul Valery came to me from the Small Works List but I know exactly why his name was on there. Valery is one of the many French poets from a certain time period that are lauded in the annals of classic literature. I have read a few French poets at this point in the project and they began with Valery who figured as something of a grandfather to these writers. I have since read Breton, Gide, and Michaux and that seems like a lot for an American classics reader. Valery represents some of the most difficult material that I have read so far and would love to return to his work to get something more out of it. Easily one of the works that jumped out to me to read of Valery's was Le Jeune Parque which does not appear in its own volume republished. Valery was writing in the late 1800s and early 1900s. La Jeune Parque is a longer work that is seen as his masterpiece but I had to find it in its totality in a collection of his writing. The Graveyard by the Sea is often taken out of context from this longer poem. Every book sold will come with a short reflection on my experience reading the text. I will also include a bookmark and sticker with each volume. Each book bought is an invitation to a conversation with me about your reading experience in whatever method and medium you would prefer. #classics#classicbooks#classicliterature#classiclit#frenchpoetry#frenchliterature#poet#poetry#poem#paulvalery#lejeuneparque#hardcover
