This is the story of Hank the Cowdog, Head of Ranch Security is framed for the murder of a chicken and becomes an outlaw with the Coyotes. The book was written by John R. Erickson for those of Grade levels 3-4 or ages 7-10 years. The author of the book was also a former cowboy and ranch manager with a storytellers knack for spinning yarns. Geaduated from University of Texas in 1966. He began publishing short stories in 1967 while working full time as a ranch hand, cowboy and farm manager in Texas and Oklahoma. In 1982 he had gotten enough he was working out in the cold with 8 inches of snow, had just gotten two or three rejection slips from New York Publishers and had a wife with two kids and one on theway. So he borrowed $2000 and started his own publishing company naming it "Maverick Books. Hank the cowdog debuted in the pages of "The Cattlemen" which was an Adults Magazine. Both Hank and John became quick favorites of the readers at that time. There was a total of 79 Hank the Cowdog books in the series and each was always published on an audiotape to. This Number one in the Series and in Good Condition for its age, the cover has some scuffing, couple of bent corners, but the book is still in good reading condition and has lots of reading life left in it for the young readers you may know. It weighs in unpackaged at 4.4 ounces and is 7.75" Inches x 5.0" Inches X .50" Inches thick. This book was from the secod print in which was in 1999 Puffin Penguin Puttnam books
