Published in 1847, Wuthering Heights is a story of passion, revenge, and the destructive power of love set in the Yorkshire moors of England. The narrative is framed by the character of Mr. Lockwood, a tenant who rents Thrushcross Grange, where he meets the brooding Heathcliff, the central character of the story.

Heathcliff is a dark-skinned orphan taken in by the Earnshaw family, living at Wuthering Heights. He forms a deep bond with Catherine Earnshaw, but their love is disrupted by social class divisions and Catherine's decision to marry Edgar Linton, a more socially acceptable match.
