Artifacts [a serialized story part 58]. Aaron made his way to his own house, sticking to the far side of the road so that Kerry wouldn't see him. He wondered about Kerry and the other boy all night, barely touching his dinner, which because it was hot dogs cut up into bake beans, he wouldn't have touched anyway. The next day in school he kept looking for the older boy, but never saw him. He saw Kerry only twice, and both times she looked away. His heart ached, but he decided not to push the matter, especially because this weird guy might be potential boyfriend material, so he didn't want to make himself even less desirable. That afternoon, he wasn't as quick getting out the door, and had to run across the schoolyard, cursing the guys who'd slowed him up trying to make plans for Friday. Who had time for that? It was only Tuesday. When he reached Kerry's street, he could see the older kid walking away again, Kerry continuing further down the street. He followed, at a distance.
