Here we have a complete set of The Lord of the Rings, by J. R. R. Tolkien, in trade paperback. This copy is from the second printing of the 1970 Special Edition, and was printed in August 1971. I believe it was originally a boxed set, though no box is present now. All three volumes match perfectly in size and design, and feature cover art by Tolkien himself. The Fellowship of the Ring The Two Towers The Return of the King The condition is very good, though there are some imperfections scattered through. Volume 1: Fellowship - This one shows the most wear, with creasing on the spine, slightly bumped corners, one very small closed tear at the front edge, and several creased pages. Volume 2: Two Towers - The top corner of the front cover has a small dog-ear, but otherwise this volume is in great shape. Volume 3: Return of the King - The top front corner has some wrinkling. The top back corner has a 2 inch crease. The bottom back edge has two small closed tears. All three volumes show some light soiling and toning on the spines, and the pages show some toning throughout.
