This first printing, 1988 vintage high fashion book art plate was photographed by Irving Penn [American. Photographer. b. June 16, 1917 – d. October 7, 2009 ] Penn also did the layout for the fashion shoot, which was shot in New York. 1984. "I don't want to do decoration. I believe in questioning." ~ Issey Miyake All the fashions were designed by Issey Miyake [Japanese. Fashion Designer. b. April 22, 1938, in Hiroshima Japan] Fashion materials featured are : synthetic, polyurethane, bamboo. Collaborative work with textile designer, Maria Blaisse. The fashions featured in this plate are from the Issey Miyake 's 1984 Spring / Summer Collection. The fashion model for this work is the stunning Jun Kano. Face by Tyen. Hair by John Sahag. Plate 23: Coat of abura-gami, an oil-soaked handmade Japanese paper, often used for umbrellas. Spring/Summer 1984. These timeless images are an example of flawless synergy of the fashion designer Issey Miyake's vision & the photographic artistry of Irving Penn.
