I think I solved The Santa Problem. In movies where Santa is real, grownups never believe Santa is real, even though Santa has put gifts under the tree that the parents didn't buy, and this is a huge plot hole... [dramatic music] UNTIL NOW. here is how that works: Santa is magic. But Santa's magic only exists, like God, if there is no proof he exists. So Santa uses his magic to make parents think that they did, after all, buy those presents, and that way he continues to exist. Kids believe in Santa, but as they get older the trick that makes parents think they bought the gift starts working on them, too, so eventually they age out. If you remain childlike in thought, Santa stays real for you, so Buddy, for example, can continue to believe in Santa. And adults who have a close encounter with Santa might keep believing, but like UFO abductees or cryptid enthusiasts, they simply are not believed or taken seriously. There you have it: the Unified Santa Theory.
