    Seller Description

Kamala Harris intends to continue pushes to limit or ban "junk" fees charged by banks. Junk fees are taxes on the poor or financially insecure: overdraft charges, for example are junk fees. And they are big money for big banks. Annual overdraft fee revenue in 2019 was about $12.6 billion. Wells Fargo and JPMorgan Chase alone make up about 1/3 of that total. Overdraft charges are why banks offer free checking. It used to he you had to keep a minimum balance to have a checking account, but banks discovered that the poor would pay more in fees for bounced checks than the bank could earn from lending the money in a checking account. So they opened banking up and began charging overdraft fees. 34% of all overdraft fees are paid by households making less than $65k per year, making this a singularly regressive tax. Trump allies tried to block lower fees on credit cards. That's reprehensible given that Trump tries to cast himself as a populist. Vote Kamala.
