Monsters They came from the sea, the ground, the air. Some were giants, some seemed incorporeal, made of pure energy. Some were all teeth or all eye. We fled, of course. We hid. We abandoned the cities, the shores. We sent in the armies. In abandoned cities jet fighters blew up skyscrapers so the tanks could have a clear shot at them. Special forces blew up dams and poisoned the waters to fight sea serpents and flaming giant hippocrocs. One giant electroape stood in front of a hospital and took pains to make sure all our weapons hit it. We didn't know why it wanted that hospital, but our soldiers quickly destroyed all other hospitals as a defensive measure. Several giant squid roamed the Midwest furrowing the scorched land and inking into the ditches they made. As plants began growing we Agent Oranged them and salted the earth for protection. We emptied oil tankers, nuked the Amazon, melted the poles, fought hard until every monster was dead. Our victory was glorious.
