Seller Description
This is a 1977 edition of "The Story of Ferdinand" published by Penguin Young Readers, division of Penguin Random House. First written by Munro Leaf in 1936 and published by Viking Press, it is still one of most read books by children 5-7 yrs old . It is the story of a gentle bull who would rather smell the flowers than fight, but then is mistakenly picked as the most fearsome bull of the bullfighting ring. What will happen now? This was published by the Penguin Young Readers as a special edition for Dolly Partons Imagination Library a not for profit program designed to inspire a love of reading and learning. It was sponsered in part by the Dollywood Foundation. It was a unique program she came up with and she first tried it out in her home county in 1996, It was a 60 volume library tha was entirely free to the child and his parents. It mails a new age appropriate book into the homes of the children every month from birth to age 5, Dolly wanted her program to be a special personal gift for all children that came directly to them.It was so successful she has opened up the ability to replicate the program in communities all across USA, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom. The only flaw I really found with the book is that a good part of a shipping label for the book was still attached and I didn't want to harm the book as it is in excellent condition, so I neatly blacked out the name and address of the individual and leaving it up to buyer on what he wishes to do with it. The book is 8.875" X 7.250" X 0.1875" Inches in Size with 70 pages of Easy to Read print and lots of Black Ink drawings by Robert Lawson. Get this classic storybook for your child if he has not had a chance to read it most all children love the story.
