About the Author

Suzanne Park is a Korean American writer, who was born and raised in Tennessee. As a stand-up comedian, she appeared on BET’s Coming to the Stage, was the winner of the Seattle Sierra Mist Comedy Competition, and was a semi-finalist in NBC’s Stand Up for Diversity showcase. Suzanne graduated from Columbia University and received an MBA from UCLA. She currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband, female offspring, and a sneak rat that creeps around her back patio. In her spare time, she procrastinates.

Suzanne writes novels featuring Asian American protagonists from different walks of life to showcase the multi-dimensionality of Asian characters. This spring, we celebrate the launch of her latest novel, One Last Word, which is about a Korean American woman in tech who goes on a rollercoaster journey of self-discovery after her app, which sends messages to loved ones after you pass, accidentally sends her final words to all the important people in her life–while she’s still very much alive.

About One Last Word

Sara Chae is the founder of the app, One Last Word, which allows you to send a message to whomever you want after you pass. Safeguards are in place, so the app will only send out when you’re definitely, absolutely, 100% dead. Or so Sara thought.

But when another Sara Chae dies, the obituary triggers the prototype to auto-send messages that Sara uploads on one drunken night, including messages to her emotionally charged mother, a former best friend who ghosted her, bosses who treated her poorly, and her unrequited high school crush, Harry. Now, she has to deal with all the havoc that ensues and reopen old wounds from the past.

Perfect for fans of Annabel Monaghan and Jenny Han, One Last Word is a laugh-out-loud and empowering novel about self-discovery as a woman unlocks the power of advocating for herself in all areas of her life. With this novel, Park sheds light on the realities and challenges of being a female entrepreneur, particularly in the tech world; explores complicated family relationships, especially as a first-generation American; examines the role of technology in our daily lives and the importance of authentic communication; and illuminates the unbreakable bonds of sisterhood.

“One Last Word is a smart and breezy read about taking hold of the life you want and refusing to let go.

An absolute delight.”
