Wilbert V. Awdry

Wilbert Vere Awdry was an English Anglican clergyman, railway enthusiast, and children's author. Born on June 15, 1911, and passing away on March 21, 1997, he was best known for creating The Railway Series of books, which featured the beloved character Thomas the Tank Engine and the fictional island of Sodor. His stories, stemming from tales he told his son Christopher during his childhood, have been widely adapted for television and have become part of the popular series "Thomas & Friends."
