Tomm Moore

Tomm Moore is an Irish filmmaker, artist, illustrator, and co-founder of the animation studio Cartoon Saloon. Born on January 7, 1977, in Newry, Northern Ireland, Moore is notable for his work on highly acclaimed animated feature films that often draw upon Irish folklore and mythology. His distinctive animation style combines traditional techniques with modern storytelling. Moore's most well-known works include "The Secret of Kells" (2009), which he co-directed; it was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. He continued to explore Irish heritage and legends in his subsequent films, "Song of the Sea" (2014) and "Wolfwalkers" (2020), both of which also received Oscar nominations in the same category. His storytelling is characterized by its deep respect for nature, its use of mythological themes, and its visually stunning hand-drawn animation. Through his work, Moore has significantly contributed to the reputation of contemporary Irish animation on the international stage.
