Shane McCrae is an American poet and playwright. He is the author of five books of poetry, including The Animal Too Big to Kill, Mule, and In the Language of My Captor. His work has been widely anthologized and featured in publications such as The New Yorker, Poetry Magazine, and The New Republic. He has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation.
