Lawrence Otis Graham (July 25, 1961 – February 19, 2021) was an American attorney, speaker, and New York Times best-selling author. He was recognized for his work focusing on race, class, and social issues within the African American community. Graham gained national attention when he wrote a cover story for New York Magazine called "Invisible Man," detailing his experiences as an African American Harvard-educated lawyer working undercover as a busboy at an all-white country club in Greenwich, Connecticut. His book "Our Kind of People: Inside America's Black Upper Class" (1999) is perhaps his most well-known work, exploring the lives and culture of the black elite in America. Graham's writing often provided insight into the complexities of class and colorism in the Black community and sparked significant conversation and debate.
