Kiyoko Murata

Kiyoko Murata is a Japanese author born on March 28, 1945, in Tokushima Prefecture, Japan. She is known for her literary works which often explore human relationships, the intricacies of family life, and women's experiences in contemporary Japanese society. Her writing is characterized by its emotional depth, keen psychological insights, and subtle narrative techniques. One of her most celebrated works is the novel "Ano hi kara no denwa" ("The Phone Calls from That Day"), for which she won the prestigious Akutagawa Prize in 1991.
