Jonathan Edwards (1703-1758) was an American theologian, philosopher, and Congregationalist preacher. He was a key figure in the First Great Awakening of the 1730s and 1740s and is best known for his sermon, "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God." Edwards was a prolific writer who wrote on topics such as metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, and natural philosophy. He was also a powerful preacher who influenced many in his lifetime and beyond.
