Joe Torre is a former American professional baseball player, manager, and executive. Born on July 18, 1940, Torre is best known for his time as the manager of the New York Yankees from 1996 to 2007, during which he led the team to four World Series championships and six American League pennants. Before his managerial career, Torre played as a catcher, first baseman, and third baseman for various teams, including the Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves, St. Louis Cardinals, and the New York Mets, earning nine All-Star selections. After his playing career, Torre embarked on a successful managerial stint in which he managed the Mets, Braves, Cardinals, Yankees, and Los Angeles Dodgers. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2014 for his contributions to the game. Torre has also worked in executive roles for Major League Baseball (MLB), including serving as MLB's Chief Baseball Officer.
