Henry Wansbrough

Henry Wansbrough is a British Benedictine monk and biblical scholar known for his work in the field of biblical studies and translations. Born in 1934, he was educated at Ampleforth Abbey in North Yorkshire, England, where he eventually became a monk and later served as its abbot from 1996 to 2004. Wansbrough is notable for his role as the general editor of "The New Jerusalem Bible," a significant and widely used Catholic translation of the Bible into English. He has also written numerous articles and books on biblical themes and is known for his expertise in the New Testament. In addition to his scholarly pursuits, Wansbrough has taught at various academic institutions and contributed to the Roman Catholic Church's understanding and interpretation of Scripture.
