Flavius Josephus (AD 37-100) was a Jewish historian and apologist who wrote extensively about the Jewish people in the Roman Empire. His most famous works are The Jewish War and Antiquities of the Jews. He also wrote about the history of the Maccabees, the Hasmonean dynasty, and the destruction of the Second Temple in Jerusalem. He is an important source for understanding the history of the Jewish people in the first century.
