E. M. Bounds

Edward McKendree Bounds, commonly known as E. M. Bounds (1835–1913), was an American author, attorney, and clergyman known for his extensive writing on prayer. His works have had a significant impact within Christian circles, emphasizing the pivotal role of prayer in personal and communal religious life. Born in Shelby County, Missouri, Bounds was also a pastor and served as a chaplain in the Confederate Army during the American Civil War. Following the war, he focused primarily on ministry and writing. Bounds authored several enduring books on prayer, including "Power Through Prayer," "Purpose in Prayer," "The Necessity of Prayer," and "Prayer and Praying Men." His writings continue to inspire and challenge Christians to deeper spiritual lives and a more profound, persistent prayer practice.
