Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a German Lutheran pastor, theologian, anti-Nazi dissident, and key founding member of the Confessing Church. He was also a prolific writer, whose works continue to be widely read and studied today. Bonhoeffer was arrested and executed by the Nazis in 1945 for his involvement in a plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler. He is remembered for his courage and faith in the face of tyranny, and his commitment to justice and peace.
