Dave Duncan (1933–2018) was a Scottish-Canadian author best known for his fantasy and science fiction novels. Born in Scotland, he moved to Canada in 1955 where he worked as a geologist before turning to writing full-time. Duncan's writing career started later in life, with his first novel, "A Rose-Red City," published in 1987.
He gained prominence with his fantasy series, especially "The Seventh Sword" and "A Man of His Word," which feature rich world-building, complex magic systems, and swashbuckling adventures. His writing is characterized by well-developed characters, intricate plots, and imaginative settings.
