Ann Rule (1931-2015) was an American true crime writer, who wrote more than thirty books and thousands of articles in a career spanning over four decades. She was best known for her book The Stranger Beside Me (1980), about the serial killer Ted Bundy, whom she had known personally. Rule was a former Seattle police officer and wrote for magazines such as True Detective, The National Enquirer, and Cosmopolitan.
