Aaron Foley is an American author, journalist, and commentator known for his work on urban affairs, particularly regarding the city of Detroit, Michigan. He served as the city's chief storyteller, a position unique to Detroit that was created under Mayor Mike Duggan in 2017. In this role, Foley worked to craft and share narratives about the city's residents and neighborhoods, moving beyond the stereotypical stories often associated with Detroit's economic struggles. Foley is also the author of "How to Live in Detroit Without Being a Jackass" (2015), which is a humorous and insightful guidebook aimed at new residents and visitors to the city, designed to help them navigate Detroit's complex cultural landscape with respect and understanding.
